About the Role
As a Residential Childcare Deputy Manager, you’ll be a trusted leader creating a safe, positive, and engaging home for children and young people aged 14–18.
You’ll support the Registered Manager in running our brand new Birmingham service, leading your team to provide exceptional, person-centred care. Every day is different — from planning activities to supporting emotional, social, and educational development — but the goal is the same: helping young people thrive and reach their potential.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead the team and manage the service in the absence of the Registered Manager
- Plan shifts and ensure smooth day-to-day running
- Support, supervise, and develop staff
- Promote a safe, stimulating, and nurturing environment
- Review care plans and manage risk in line with policies
- Participate in on-call duties on a rota basis
- Undertake regular supervisions, address performance issues, and identify training needs
- Promote, safeguard, and protect the welfare of each young person

What You’ll Need
- Over 21 years of age
- Minimum 2 years’ leadership experience in children’s residential care
- Proven supervisory or management experience
- Diploma or NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare (or equivalent)
- Good standard of written and verbal English
- Calm, resilient, and caring approach
