Role Overview: We are seeking a Residential Childcare Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in our brand new service located in Birmingham. This is an 7 bedded service which specialises in delivering exceptional care and unwavering support to children and young people between the ages of 11 and 17 years. We are looking for someone with the passion and determination to go the extra mile to create a home that every child truly deserves. This includes creating a space brimming with activity, new experiences, and, most importantly, fun and laughter.

You will be fully supported in your new role with a comprehensive induction program and ongoing development. This role is both rewarding and challenging, requiring a strong commitment to our values and the ability to handle difficult situations with resilience.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Promote and adhere to the workplace values of Dignus Group (Resilience, Courage, Integrity, Respect, Confidence and innovation)
  • Manage the service effectively in the absence of the Registered Manager.
  • Take responsibility for planning shifts and ensuring the smooth running of the service.
  • Meet the physical, emotional, behavioural, culture and educational needs of our young people.
  • Provide managerial control and direction in relation to staff duties and responsibilities.
  • Assist the Registered Manager with the recruitment and retention of staff team.
  • Lead the team to deliver high quality care to our young people.
  • Ensure all risks are safely managed in line with Company policies and procedures.
  • Review the young people’s care plans and other associated documentation.
  • Provide support to the Registered Manager to ensure the completion of day to day tasks.
  • Complete on call duties on a rota basis.
  • Undertake responsibility for regular supervisions, addressing performance issues and identifying training and development needs.
  • Promote, safeguard and protect the welfare of each young person.
  • A desire to learn, we provide training and apprenticeships for you to achieve your full potential.
  • Successful applicants will be subject to a DBS check at enhanced level.

Essential Requirements:

  • Due to the ages of our young people you will need to be above 21 years.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working with children and young people.
  • Proven supervisory experience.
  • Diploma or NVQ Level 3 in Residential Childcare or equivalent.
  • A good standard of written and verbal English.
